PERCEPTIONS
Developing Talent for NI’s Creative Arts, Digital Media, Animation and Film Industries
In partnership with the Department for Culture, Arts and Leisure and in line with Creativity Month (March 2016), Specialisterne NI are hosting a limited number of FREE half-day workshops across Northern Ireland!
Why ‘PERCEPTIONS’?
Specialisterne NI is increasingly working with young people across Northern Ireland who seek to develop careers in the Creative Arts, Digital Content, Animation and Film Sectors.
Perceptions aims to develop an understanding of Social Communication Difference (such as Autism/Aspergers) and how to develop the talents of students who present with Social Communication Difference and who are studying to secure careers in Creative Arts, Digital Content, Animation or Film Sectors .
The workshop will enhance your skills in working with and developing the talents of people with social communication difference, such as being on the Autistic Spectrum. The workshop includes role playing of communication scenarios at college/university and/or at work as well as illustration from actor/illustrator Patrick Sanders. According to Learning Development theorists Moreno (2012) and St George et al (1999) drama based learning using the improvisational skills of professional actors is the most effective form of diversity training.
The training aims to develop an understanding:
- of the experience of having social communication difference at college or university, what that may be like
- of experiences of graduates on the Autistic Spectrum in the workplace
- that behaviours can have different meanings for students with social communication difference such as Autism
- of tools for supporting learners who are on the Autistic Spectrum
Who should attend?
We welcome all enquiries about attending the workshops, however they are aimed towards Lecturers, Careers Advisors and Employability staff at colleges and universities across Northern Ireland.
